The Library has received reports about users being not able to access library subscribed e-resources. Typically, when a user clicks on an e-resource link, instead of being redirected to the correct site, the following error message appears in the browser window.

Chrome  Chrome
Firefox  Firefox
IE  IE

The reason for this error is the anti-virus software of your local computer. For example, the link may be blocked by the anti-phishing detection of Kaspersky.

To fix the above problem, please follow the following steps to add URLs from the library website as trusted URLs to the anti-virus software of your computer. The following is an example for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 anti-virus.

A special note to users who are using computer terminals within the CUHK offices: In case it asks for password (which means password protection is enabled to prevent settings changing), please consult your department’s system administrator.

Step 1

In the Settings page of Kaspersky, select Anti-Virus production in the list, and click on Web Anti-Virus.

Setting01

Step 2

Click the Settings… button. Choose Trusted URLs tab in the opened window.

Setting02

Step 3

Click the Add button. Enter *.cuhk.edu.hk into the opened textbox.

Setting03

Step 4

Click OK and Save buttons to save the changes.
